Daddy's Hospital Bag for Baby #1
My husband was pretty clueless as to what to expect when making our trip to the hospital. I knew I'd need to be prepared for the both of us so I packed a bag for him. His biggest complaint was the temperature of the hospital, he was freezing the entire time. My husband is an incredibly light sleeper and so with that in mind I made sure to pack a few things to help him sleep.
- Baby book for prints (I put him in charge of this)
- Snacks: Gatorade, favorite candy, granola bars
- 2 changes of clothes
- Sweat pants
- Fleece pullover
- Slippers
- Ear plugs
- Eye masks
- Toiletries (included in my toiletry bag)
- Pillow
- Blanket
- Card game
- Cash/coins for vending machine
- Chargers
Next time I plan to bring him warmer clothing, including a hooded sweatshirt and a long sleeve shirt. I would also add a nice dark color shirt and jeans for pictures with the baby.
I was so glad I brought snacks for him to munch on. The hospital provides you food during your stay (after delivery) but not your husband. If you don't want to send him to the cafeteria to buy anything I suggest bringing snacks and then during meal times I ordered enough for myself to share with him.
The ear plugs and eye masks were another great decision. More for my husband than for myself. During my stay there were nurses constantly coming and going all day and night long. The ear plugs and eye mask helped hubby get some sleep in a place where sleep is very limited. I was pretty jealous of him but at least one of us got some ZZZs.
There is a lot going on before, during, and after delivery. There really was no time for card games or shooting the breeze. Things were happening constantly and during the few free moments we watched Hulu on our iPad.
